A smile you feel comfortable in

Cosmetic dentistry is about more than appearance — it is about how you feel when you smile, speak, and engage with the people around you. At Lockleys Dental Clinic, we offer a range of cosmetic treatments designed to address real concerns — staining, chipped teeth, uneven shapes, gaps, and worn edges — in a way that suits your face, your preferences, and your budget.

Every cosmetic treatment begins with a thorough consultation. We will listen to what you would like to change, assess the health of your teeth and gums (which must be sound before any cosmetic work begins), and explain the options that are genuinely suitable for your situation. Individual results vary — we set honest expectations before any treatment begins.

Cosmetic treatments we offer

Teeth whitening

Professional whitening is one of the most cost-effective ways to refresh your smile. We offer both in-chair whitening (for faster results) and take-home whitening kits with custom-fitted trays. Whitening works best on natural teeth that have external staining — your dentist will assess whether it is appropriate for your situation and advise on realistic outcomes. Individual results vary based on the nature and depth of staining.

Dental veneers

Veneers are thin custom-made shells that are bonded to the front surface of teeth to change their colour, shape, size, or surface texture. We offer porcelain veneers (fabricated by a dental laboratory using PrimeScan digital impressions — no messy putty) and composite veneers (applied directly to the tooth in a single visit). Porcelain veneers are more durable and stain-resistant; composite veneers are more conservative and reversible. Your dentist will help you understand which option is appropriate for your goals.

Composite bonding

Composite resin bonding can repair chipped, fractured, or discoloured teeth and close small gaps — often in a single appointment with minimal removal of tooth structure. It is one of the most conservative cosmetic treatments available and can make a meaningful difference to how teeth look and feel.

Implant-supported restorations

Replacing missing teeth is both a functional and cosmetic concern. Dr Alex Furlan places and restores dental implants in-house — providing natural-looking crowns that integrate seamlessly with your existing smile. PrimeScan digital impressions ensure precise, well-fitting restorations.

Smile makeovers

A smile makeover combines two or more cosmetic treatments to address multiple concerns in a coordinated plan. For example, whitening followed by bonding on two front teeth, or veneers on upper teeth paired with implants to replace a missing tooth. We plan these carefully to ensure the results are cohesive and look natural. Treatment is staged to allow you to see each step before proceeding.

The right foundation first

Cosmetic treatments work best — and last longest — when they are built on a healthy foundation. Before commencing any cosmetic work, we ensure that decay is treated, gum disease is under control, and your bite is stable. This is not a delay tactic — it is how cosmetic dentistry is done well.

If any foundational work is needed, we will discuss this clearly, including the sequencing, timeline, and costs involved so there are no surprises.

Frequently asked questions

This is exactly what the consultation is for. We will look at your teeth, gums, and bite; listen to what you want to change; and then explain which treatments are suitable, what each involves, and what outcomes are realistic. There is no obligation to proceed — the consultation is about giving you the information to make an informed decision.
Whitening agents only affect natural tooth structure — they do not change the colour of porcelain, composite, or ceramic restorations. If you have veneers, crowns, or large fillings on visible teeth, it is important to discuss this before whitening, as whitened natural teeth may no longer match your existing restorations.
Porcelain veneers are fabricated in a dental laboratory and bonded to the teeth at a second appointment. They are highly durable, stain-resistant, and look extremely natural. Composite veneers are applied directly to the teeth in a single visit using tooth-coloured resin — they are more conservative (less tooth reduction), less expensive, and easier to repair, but may not last as long and can discolour over time. Your dentist will discuss which is better suited to your teeth and goals.
Most purely cosmetic procedures — such as whitening and porcelain veneers — are not covered by health funds. However, some restorative procedures with cosmetic outcomes (such as tooth-coloured fillings or crowns) may attract a partial rebate depending on your level of cover. We recommend contacting your fund before commencing treatment. Afterpay is available to help manage out-of-pocket costs.
PrimeScan is a digital intraoral scanner that captures a precise 3D model of your teeth without traditional impression trays or impression material. For cosmetic restorations such as veneers and crowns, this results in more accurate fit, faster turnaround, and a more comfortable experience. The scan data is sent directly to the dental laboratory in digital form.
