Caring for your everyday dental health

General dentistry is the foundation of a healthy smile. At Lockleys Dental Clinic, we provide comprehensive care for the whole family — from routine check-ups and professional cleans to fillings, digital X-rays, and personalised treatment plans. Our aim is to keep small problems from becoming big ones.

We're a preferred provider for Bupa, NIB, and HCF, and we accept Afterpay to help make dental care accessible. Our three dentists — Dr Katherine Rao, Dr Alex Furlan, and Dr Katherine Fang — bring a wide range of skills to general and preventive care.

What we offer

Routine check-ups

A thorough examination of your teeth, gums, jaw, and soft tissues. We check for early signs of decay, gum disease, and other concerns — catching issues early saves time, money, and discomfort later. Digital X-rays are taken when clinically appropriate.

AirFlow professional cleaning

We use the Airflow system for a gentle, effective clean that removes staining, plaque, and biofilm — including in areas traditional instruments can't easily reach. It's particularly comfortable for patients with sensitive gums and produces noticeably clean results.

Tooth-coloured fillings

When decay occurs, we restore teeth using tooth-coloured composite resin that blends naturally with your smile. We aim to preserve as much of your natural tooth structure as possible in every restoration.

Gum health and periodontal care

Gum disease is one of the most common dental conditions in Australia and is often painless in its early stages. We assess your gum health at every visit and provide treatment and home care advice to protect your gums and supporting bone.

Mouthguards and night guards

Custom-fitted mouthguards offer far better protection than over-the-counter options — both for sport and for patients who grind their teeth at night. We take precise impressions to create a guard that fits well and lasts.

Why preventive care matters

Most dental problems develop slowly and quietly. By the time you notice pain or visible damage, the issue has often progressed well beyond its earliest stage. Regular check-ups allow us to catch decay, gum disease, and structural changes early — when they're easiest and least expensive to manage.

We recommend a check-up and clean every six months for most patients, though your dentist will advise a schedule based on your individual needs and risk profile.

Frequently asked questions

For most adults, every six months is recommended. Some patients with higher risk of gum disease or decay may benefit from more frequent visits — your dentist will advise you based on your circumstances.
We are a preferred provider for Bupa, NIB, and HCF, which means eligible members may receive reduced out-of-pocket costs. Specific item numbers and claim amounts depend on your level of cover — we recommend contacting your fund before your appointment to understand your entitlements.
AirFlow uses a controlled stream of pressurised water, air, and fine powder particles to gently remove staining, plaque, and biofilm from tooth surfaces and just below the gum line. It is particularly comfortable for patients with sensitive gums and reaches areas that traditional hand instruments and ultrasonic scalers struggle to access.
Yes — we accept both the Government Dental Scheme (GDS) and Emergency Dental Scheme (EDS) vouchers. Please bring your voucher to your appointment.
